A Bold Faceted Tea Cup with Dual Expressions
This handmade faceted tea cup is a strong representative work from You Shanzi’s 28-Yaki wood firing.
The flame-facing side features decisive chisel-cut (faceted) textures, executed with confident, forceful strokes.
In contrast, the reverse side retains soft, flowing curves, creating a deliberate balance between strength and restraint.
This dual-surface design gives the cup a dynamic presence — visually striking, yet comfortable to hold.
Wood-Fired Glaze & Clay Character
The cup is finished with a ginger-yellow ash glaze, appearing in natural, plate-like deposits formed during firing.
The clay body is rich in iron content, resulting in a surface that feels dense, smooth, and quietly lustrous after firing.
Crafted from high-quality coarse clay sourced in Jingdezhen, this piece offers:
Good breathability
Excellent tea compatibility
A warm, grounded tactile experience
Especially suitable for oolong, roasted teas, and aged teas.
