Description

This Hand-Pinched Zisha Tasting Cup by You Shanzi originates from the 28-Kiln Third Wood Firing. Formed entirely by hand, the piece carries a dense, weighty presence that sits firmly in the hand.

The surface displays a white rough-sand texture, contrasting beautifully with the distinct red fire marks formed naturally during the wood-firing process. Three small, discreet shell stilt marks add a touch of playfulness while indicating traditional firing technique.

Made from high-quality Yixing raw zisha clay, the cup has excellent breathability and remarkable tea compatibility—perfect for gongfu-style tasting of rock tea, roasted oolong, or aged puerh.

Comes with a wooden storage box.

About the Artist – You Shanzi (You Feng, Studio Name: Da You Tang)

For over a decade, Master You Feng, known by his pottery name “You Shanzi,” has immersed himself in the study of traditional ceramic tea ware. He has handled and collected countless antique and contemporary tea vessels, and even traveled to Japan to study tea culture in depth.

His works reflect a deep understanding of global tea traditions and aesthetics, with a special focus on hand-pinched forms and wood-fired pottery.

He founded the “28 Yaki ” series in Chang’an, inspired by his pottery seal—derived from ancient Chinese bronze script, resembling the combination of the numbers 2 and 8. The series embodies his philosophy of simplicity, sincerity, and the timeless beauty of clay and fire.
